Get Access to License Key System
Prerequisites
- Contact details of Account Executive.
Procedure
- Liase with your Account Executive to request for access to the license key system.
- Your Account Executive will liaise with Contracts Team to arrange for you to have entitlements to the license key system.
- The Contracts Team will give you the license key entitlement, and let your Accounts Executive know when this is done. Your Account Executive will relay this information to you.
You will then have details to log in to the license key system.
Get the License Key from the License Key System
Prerequisites
- Access to license key system
Steps
You will need to get a license key for each server used by your SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Generator installation.
- Log in to https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/licensekey.
- Click on the + button to add the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Generator installation that you would like to request license key for. The Add New System dialog window displays.
In the Add New System dialog, enter the following values:
Field Value Product SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Generator Version SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Generator 9.0 Once you've entered these values, additional fields will display in the Add New Systems dialog.
Enter the following values:
Field Value System ID VEGSystem Name <your choice of name for the system>System Type Productive System - Click Continue. The license key will navigate to the Details tab.
- Click the + button under License Keys. The Create License Key Request dialog will display.
Enter the following values in the Create License Key Request dialog:
Field Value License Type Visual Enterprise Generator Hardware Key The hardware key can be found in the Visual Enterprise Generator Configurator application, either on the Licensing tab, or in the Configure Licensing page of the configuration wizard. Quantity (of CPUs) The number of CPUs the license should be entitled for. Valid until The license key expiry date. - Click the Add button. The license key details will display under the License Key section.
- Click the Generate button to generate the license key.

Digitally signed (new type) SAP license key cannot be installed due to the error:
This system's installation number is '<10 digit number>', but there is a license key for installation number '<another 10 digit number>' in the license key file
Background, steps of resolution.
Background
- Digitally signed (new type) license key already exists in the system with different installation number than defined in the new license file
- 24 digit (old type) license key still exists in the system

Steps of resolution
1. Delete all existing licenses in SLICENSE transaction (both New Licenses and Old Licenses). See License Administration with Transaction SLICENSE.
License Key Generator Online
As of basis 7.3 the 'New Licenses' and 'Old Licenses' buttons do not exist, only a Digitally-Signed tab. This way deleting of existing 24 digit license is not possible form SLICENSE. See point 2 and License Administration with Transaction SLICENSE.
2. Check whether old license (24 digit) exists. Command 'saplicense -show' can be used for this.

3. Delete the old licenses with 'saplicense -delete'. Follow the instructions.
4. Install the new license via SLICENSE or on operating system level with saplikey command. 'saplikey pf=/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/<instance profile> -install <path to license file/license file>' (e.g. 'saplikey pf=/usr/sap/XYZ/SYS/profile/XYZ_DVEBMGS00_xyzhost -install /home/xyzadm/XYZ_multiple.TXT'
